佐久市・岩村田(いわむらだ)にある西念寺の桜の花が見頃になりました。

西念寺は、弘治元年（１５５５）に 創建された浄土宗のお寺で、ご本尊の木造阿弥陀如来座像は、定朝様式を伝える高さ５尺８寸の寄木造り、昭和３４年に長野県指定県宝に指定されています。

境内には戦国時代末期、小諸城主になった仙石秀久や岩村田藩主・内藤正国の墓碑があります。
