佐久市岩村田(旧中山道・第２２次の宿場)にある龍雲寺は、鎌倉時代の１３１２年に臨済宗の寺院として建立されましたが、兵火にあい衰退、文明年間（１４６９年〜１４８７年）に曹洞宗の僧、天英祥貞によって復興、曹洞宗の寺院に改められました。

龍雲寺には武田信玄の遺骨と副葬品と言われている物が納めてある信玄公の霊廟が本堂の奥にあります。
